Harvest Park and Pleasanton middle schools are among the honorees named as 2021 California Distinguished Schools, a statewide distinction bestowed upon public schools for excellence in academic performance and closing achievement gaps.
For every student who attends, stays with or returns to PUSD, the district receives state funding, and for students within the greater Tri-Valley area that feel (Virtual Academy) is the right fit for them, if they were to attend our school district, we would get the revenue for them attending our school district as well, Sheikholeslami said. It can play an important role in retention, he added. It can play an important role in bringing some students back who have left, and it could play a role for students in our local area who would find this as a good education model for them, and then that would be a net add of students
Books/supplies (6.5%) and services (12%) were larger due to carry over from last year and learning loss mitigation funds. The district said about 85% of the one-time pandemic and learning loss mitigation funds have been suspended, and has projected about $7.6 million in deficit spending.
Staff said 85% of one-time pandemic related funds are already expended but there is significant additional funding pending.
That includes the district s $4.43 million portion of a $2 billion dollar statewide in-person instruction grant program, as well as $9.35 million from a $4.56 billion state-funded expanded learning opportunities grant.
With district enrollment down more than 400 students this year as a result of the pandemic, staff is also predicting the district s new Virtual Academy can help with enrollment loss when it comes to LCFF funds.
Bolton Crown Court. A CONVICTED drug dealer failed to attend his unpaid work appointments despite living just a few minutes walk away, a court heard. Justice Eza, of Harvest Park, Bolton, was sentenced in July last year after he lost control of the car he was driving following a dangerous police chase through Heaton. During the incident in February 2019, Eza, who was aged 19 at the time, drove a hired BMW at speed of up to 60mph and collided with several other vehicles. After crashing the car, Eza was found to be in possession of £1,300 worth of cannabis. Two mobile phones were discovered at the scene along with a stun gun, knuckle duster and £1,032 in cash.
The annual event also featured the 2020 Pillars of Pleasanton Awards, which recognizes businesses in the community that support Pleasanton schools through sponsorship, fundraising, in-kind support, and more. Winners this year include Richert Lumber, Stanford Health Care-ValleyCare, State Farm Insurance (Agent Larry Damaser), Porky s Pizza and Towne Center Books.
