Improvisation is key for SMF Jazz Academy spring performance
SMF Jazz Academy virtual concert By Kyle Jordan | April 29, 2021 at 11:21 AM EDT - Updated April 29 at 11:21 AM
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - In true jazz fashion, organizers had to improvise when it came to putting on a spring concert for the Savannah Musical Festival Jazz Academy.
A virtual concert set for Friday, April 30, will feature more than 25 Savannah-Chatham County fifth through twelfth graders performing jazz standards. They recorded their performance at the Kehoe Iron Works building Trustees’ Garden with students spaced out around the room.
The Jazz Academy is open to SCCPSS students who don’t have jazz bands offered at their school. It launched as a pilot program in January 2020. The students performing in this virtual concert had very little, if any, contact with each other while taking the course.
With collectible design, everything its creators imagine will ultimately inhabit real spaces in real people s lives.
Over the past few decades, collectible design has grown in popularity, combining collectors love for contemporary interior design, with the art world s commercial structure and support.
What originally began as an extension of fine art, is now a design domain all its own that is driving high prices for collectors and artists.
From April 28 through May 2, works by 18 collectible designers from around the world will be featured in a Savannah show by Unique Design X Group, the group’s first U.S. event.
Organizers say the show at Trustees Garden will present a specially curated selection of unique and limited edition design pieces.

Life after this pandemic will look like rainbow colors on skatepark grounds, Alice and the Wonderland tick-tockers and glazed stoneware adorned with rope handles.
At least these are the interpretations of some international artists.
The nomadic boutique design fair, Unique Design X Group, will bring these exotic interpretations to Trustees’ Garden for their first show in the U.S.
Unique Design X Savannah will post in the Kehoe Ironworks at Trustees’ Garden from April 28- May 2, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily. Tickets will be sold for $10 - seniors and children will recieve free admission - and will include access to an indoor exhibition, a colorful outdoor skatepark, food trucks and more.
