BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â Amid the pandemic, many students are struggling with mental health.
Ridgeview High School freshman Zairrah Brown said in December, she tried to harm herself. She said her sister found her before it was too late. When you re alone you feel like no one sees you, no one cares so I might as well end it all,â Brown said. âIt s really hard to get those thoughts out of your head.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â The Water Association of Kern County is hoping to bring awareness to water conservation in a fun and creative way.
The Water Association of Kern County will be hosting a scavenger hunt at this monthâs Second Saturday event in support of #TheMagicofWater campaign.
Attendees will find artwork stations set up at various local businesses, featuring fun facts and information about water usage. There will also be a social media contest for people to join for the chance to win $125 in gift cards from our partner businesses. To enter, they simply tag @water4kern on Facebook or Instagram, as well as the partner business, in a photo with the artwork at each loc

The Bakersfield City School District was originally supposed to phase-in in-person classes this month. Those dates were
pushed back to early April, shortly after being announced.
Thursday, the Bakersfield Elementary Teachers Association and The Bakersfield City School District met for over seven hours to finalize a memorandum of understanding on BCSDâs return to school.

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) â A new report from Yelp is highlighting some of the unknown impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses.
As we come up to the one-year anniversary of the official declaration of the global pandemic, Yelpâs report seems to indicate that there were nearly half a million new business openings in the U.S. during the first year. According to the report, that number is down 14% year-over-year.
