Covid-19 cases were near zero in more parts of Enfield and Haringey (Image: Pixabay/Canva) More parts of Enfield and Haringey saw Covid-19 cases of around zero as the Government started to lift lockdown restrictions. There were 22 parts of Enfield and 26 regions of Haringey with fewer than three cases of the virus in the seven days to March 10, according to the latest official data. That compares to 15 parts of Enfield and 23 parts of Haringey with near-zero cases in the seven days to March 3. The latest figures show the infection rate fell by 27 per cent in Enfield, to 27 new Covid cases per 100,000 people, but remained unchanged at 29 new cases per 100,000 people in Haringey.

South Tottenham The worst-hit part of the borough was Hornsey West, with seven cases of the virus. Prime Minister Boris Johnson cautioned that the return of all pupils to schools this week will have an impact on the spread of the virus, as there will be an increased risk of transmission. Speaking at a Downing Street press conference on Monday, Mr Johnson urged people to stay at home and continue following the guidelines designed to stop the spread of Covid-19. “With the number of patients being admitted to hospital with Covid each day still around eight times higher than the lows of last summer, it’s more vital than ever to follow the rules,” he said.

Covid rates are now below 100 cases per 100,000 people Seven-day Covid-19 infection rates in Enfield and Haringey have dropped below 100 new cases per 100,000 people. The infection rates in both boroughs are significantly below the UK average and lower than those in most other local authorities in London. It came as Prime Minister Boris Johnson unveiled a roadmap out of lockdown in England, which could see all restrictions lifted from June 21. Enfield, which had one of the highest rates in the country at the beginning of January, saw just 72 new cases of the virus per 100,000 people in the seven days to February 17 – a 41 per cent drop compared to the previous week.
