RAMONA, Calif. The San Diego County Sheriff s Department presented a Medal of Distinguished Service to a six-year-old girl for her heroic act. In this Zevely Zone, I went to Ramona where Kallie Helton is the talk of the town. Deputies don t throw the word hero around lightly. In my opinion she undoubtedly played a pivotal role in saving his life, said Lt. Michael McNeil. Quite frankly, she did something that I am not confident most people, most adults would do.

The recently rebuilt Crab Cooker Restaurant and Fish Market will officially throw open its doors to welcome guests back to the landmark Newport Beach eatery at 11 a.m. on Monday.
Located at 2200 Newport Blvd., the Crab Cooker first started serving customers 70 years ago. Its former building was heavily damaged by nearby construction, so the owner, Jim Wasko, son-in-law of founder Bob Roubian (1926 – 2017), took it down and started all over again recreating it.
“We have gone to painstaking detail to preserve the look, feel and even the décor,” Wasko said in a news release issued Friday. “When we reopen return visitors will feel right at home and new visitors will feel as if they did not miss a thing.”
It was hard to decide what was more beautiful.
The delicate, but intense colors of the tropical butterfly or the innocent look of wide-eyed wonder on the face of the little boy watching it.
I had come to the Butterfly Encounter at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, but it was the total joy and rapt attention of the child that caught my eye. What a magical moment.
I briefly felt a similar jolt of child-like amazement while sitting in my garden last week and watching orioles nest building nearby when a monarch butterfly silently fluttered by, only inches from my face.
