UPDATED: Rocket Attack on Iraq Base Retaliates for US Strikes Inside Syria

UPDATE, MARCH 4: US officials have said that Wednesday’s rocket attack, on an Iraqi base with US personnel, fits the profile of assaults by Iran-backed Iraqi militia.
However, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said, “We cannot attribute responsibility at this time, and we do not have a complete picture of the extent of the damage.”
The Pentagon repeated that there are no reports of casualties, but an American civilian contractor died after suffering a “cardiac episode” while sheltering from rockets.

Swiss Formula E driver Edoardo Mortara ended up in hospital after a software error left him driving into a safety wall at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday.
In a statement issued via Twitter, the Mercedes-EQ Formula E Team blamed the code governing the race car s braking system. The braking system on Formula E cars is designed so that if the front brakes fail, the rear brake system is activated as a fail-safe, the Mercedes-EQ Team said. In this instance, an incorrect software parameter that meant the rear brake system didn t activate as intended and the fail-safe did not kick in.

Al-Malki said the Houthis were trying in “a systematic and deliberate way to target civilians”.
The US Embassy in Riyadh issued a warning to Americans, calling on them to “stay alert in case of additional future attacks”. Flight-tracking websites showed several flights scheduled to land at Riyadh’s international airport diverted or delayed in the hour after the attack.

A delegation of Israeli security officials was sent to Dubai to inspect the ship hit by an explosion in the Persian Gulf, Haaretz reported Sunday.
The Israeli cargo ship MV Helios Ray anchored in Dubai on Saturday morning. The blast a day earlier did not disable the ship or injure its crew, but forced it ashore for repairs.
According to the report, security officials believe Iran was behind the attack and have long warned that Tehran could choose to target Israeli maritime interests, causing severe damage to the economy by impeding the import of goods.
