Chinese national injured in Karachi car firing

KARACHI: Days after the Dasu incident that claimed at least 13 lives including that of nine Chinese nationals and four Pakistanis, a Chinese national was wounded while his Pakistani driver and another Chinese national remained unhurt in a firing incident in Karachi on Wednesday. This was the fourth attack on Chinese nationals in the city in the current year. Police said that the incident took place after the two Chinese nationals with their Pakistani driver left their DHA residence in a Toyota Corolla car at around 7am for a factory in SITE area. When enroute, they were attacked at around 8am at Gulbai, falling in District Keamari. The Chinese national, initially identified as Xongching Phung, was shot thrice in both the arms, while two bullets grazed his face and chest. He survived miraculously. He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital, Karachi, where doctors termed his condition as out of danger.
DSP held for injuring pushcart vendor

Police have arrested a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) for injuring a pushcart vendor in the Saddar area.
They said DSP Feroz Qureshi dashed an official police mobile into the pushcart, injuring a vendor, Shaukat, on the night between Thursday and Friday near the Parking Plaza. The vendor has been on his way home in Lines Area.
A crowd of people gathered on the spot, caught the DSP and tried to torture him. Later, they handed him over to police, who took him to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for medical treatment. DSP Feroz Qureshi is posted at the Security Zone I. Police have registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.
Cattle farmer robbed of Rs6m

KARACHI: A cattle farmer was deprived of Rs6 million by unidentified persons in Karachi on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident took place near the Super Highway within the limits of the Sacchal police station when the cattle farmer was returning after selling his sacrificial animals at the Malir cattle market.
Police said unidentified armed men snatched cash from the victim and also opened fire on his vehicle. However, the cattle farmer remained unhurt. A case has been registered.
Three wounded by muggers for offering resistance

Three people were wounded in separate incidents of firing in parts of the city on Monday. Two of them were wounded after robbers on a motorcycle opened fire on them when they offered resistance during a mugging bid near the Northern Bypass within the limits of the Manghopir police station.
The victims were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. The injured persons were identified as 55-year-old Arshad Ali and Habibullah, 40. A case has been registered.
Separately, 22-year-old Imran was wounded after he offered resistance during a mugging bid on the Super Highway within the limits of the Sohrab Goth police station. He was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment. Police said the victim was on his way to buy a sacrificial animal when the incident took place.
