Phil Linz, the most infamous utility infielder that the Yankees ever have had, never meant to cause trouble that unforgettable day 56 summers ago when he pulled out his new harmonica on a team bus and started playing a nursery rhyme.
The man who was nicknamed Super Sub during his four years in pinstripes wishes that he’d never been tricked by Mickey Mantle into playing louder and that he’d never got into that ugly spat with the manager that probably contributed to franchise icon Yogi Berra being fired after the season.
