From disappointed Napoleon (more on that later), to the rekindling of the Lithuanian–Polish Commonwealth and the announced mass vaccination – it has truly been a historical week.
First things first, mass vaccination. The slots will be offered to the following age groups:
– May 10: 55+
– May 31: 16+
For now, you can register on dedicated websites of some municipalities, on Koronastop.lt, or by calling the coronavirus hotline 1808. A nationwide system will be launched by May 13. Meanwhile, here’s an explainer if you’re a foreign national and you’re wondering if you’re eligible. To put it simply, it all comes down to whether you pay contributions to the national health insurance (PSD).
Between 165,000 and 200,000 Estonians are estimated to live outside the country right now, making around 15-20 percent of the total number of Estonians. With many communities being found worldwide, both in English-speaking countries and beyond, ERR News, in conjunction with the Integration Foundation (Integratsiooni Sihtasutus), has launched a weekly Global Estonian Report, which will give a weekly window into Estonian communities and culture from around the globe.
The Estonian Worldwide Youth Network - Ãlemaailmne Eesti Noortevõrgustik (ÃENV) - recently held its first general meeting online. The network was established in October 2019 with the aim of representing the rights and interests of Estonian young people living abroad.
