Press release: A new Board of Directors of Arion Bank was elected yesterday at a shareholders’ meeting of the Bank. At a board meeting held after the shareholders’ meeting, Monica Caneman was elected Chairwoman of the Board of Directors. The other board members are Gudrún Johnsen, Vice-Chairwoman, Kristján Jóhannsson, Steen Hemmingsen and Theodór S. Sigurbergsson. The alternate board members are: Agnar Kofoed-Hansen, Jóhannes R. Jóhannesson, Ólafur Helgi Ólafsson, María Grétarsdóttir and Gudrún Björnsdóttir.
During the selection process a keen emphasis was placed on appointing directors with diverse educational backgrounds and broad experience of the banking and corporate sectors. My wife and I love being moms, but I am pretty heartsick that due to the pandemic, none of my family members have met our fast-growing babies in person.
For the first year, I took this in stride and assumed that visits would be possible in 2021 â after vaccinations.
We are an eight-hour flight away from our family, and driving is not possible.
I donât feel comfortable taking our unmasked babies on a long flight (safety-wise).
However, my family members are either unwilling to vaccinate, or are vaccinated, but with no plans to visit.
If I learned one thing from The Great Gas Panic of 2021, itâs that fear and greed can push product demand over the top, as well as cloud good judgment and common sense.
To be honest, I also learned not to let the gas gauge get below a quarter of a tank.
