In his final COVID-19 briefing of the spring semester, University of Arizona President
Robert C. Robbins thanked university students, employees and supporters for their efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus and allow for a successful end to an unprecedented school year.
May 5 is the last day of spring classes at the university, and the number of positive COVID-19 infections on campus remains low, thanks in large part to increased vaccine availability and ongoing cooperation with public health measures such as social distancing, mask wearing and regular university-mandated testing.
Between April 26 and May 1, the university administered 4,731 COVID-19 tests, with 10 positives – a positivity rate of 0.21% Wastewater testing on and around campus also suggests that infections are continuing to decline, Robbins said.

With temperatures soon expected to rise, the University of Arizona will move its drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic indoors on May 3.
Starting that day, all vaccinations will take place in the university s Ina E. Gittings Building, where a sit-down clinic has been operational since January. May 2 will be the last day for the drive-thru site on the University of Arizona Mall.
Those who wish to get vaccinated at the UArizona POD, or point of distribution, can schedule an appointment through the Arizona Department of Health Services website or by calling 844-542-8201 or 602-542-1000 for help in English or Spanish. Walk-ins are also being accepted at both the drive-thru and sit-down sites; people can simply show up between the hours of 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. PHOENIX – As the University of Arizona searches for a new men’s basketball coach, it will seek one that can sustain the success that has defined the program since the mid-1980s.
And that includes financial success.
The university fired Sean Miller Wednesday on the heels of an NCAA investigation that charged the school with five Level I violations. The notice of allegations released in March said Miller did not show that he “promoted an atmosphere for compliance and monitored his staff.”
