One thing you notice upon entering Amazon s new Goodyear facility is motion people, parcels and machinery and the sounds of movement. The continuous whirring of mechanization recalls the rumble of roller coaster cars, without the passengers.
Merchandise gets pushed and pulled around by robotic delivery units, sorted, packed and inspected by employees and sent along miles of conveyor belts 15 miles in all. The 850,000 square-foot facility, with a footprint of 14 football fields, is smaller than many similar Amazon facilities but highly efficient, processing 300,000 orders in a typical day, with the capability to go much higher during peak periods.

The 1,500 full-time employees who work at the Goodyear complex are among 32,000 statewide Amazon employees,15,000 of whom were hired over the past year or so as online retailing surged with the coronavirus pandemic and economy lockdowns.

Democratic lawmakers and election experts expressed concerns that Monday s release of the Census Bureau s congressional apportionment data reflected a systematic undercount of Latino residents that may be linked to former President Donald Trump s efforts to change census rules.

Rob Gronkowski continues to raise the bar. The tight end is already a four-time Super Bowl champion, he’s been named a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All-Pro. Now, he can add another accomplishment to that list – Guinness World Record holder.
On Friday, during the University of Arizona’s football practice, Gronk set out to catch a football that was dropped from a helicopter 600 feet in the air.
It took Gronk just three tries to accomplish the feat, which he quickly followed up with a “Gronk Spike.”
“Every time you step on the field, you’ve got to raise the bar to another level, baby. And I just raised that bar to this level,” Gronkowski said to the members of his former college football team, after the catch.
