2-year-old killed in St. Paul, Minnesota shooting

St. Paul, Minn. (FOX 9) - Investigators are working to determine the circumstances that led to a child being shot and killed Wednesday afternoon in St. Paul.
Police say the initial 911 call came in at 1:12 p.m. for the report of a 2-year-old boy with a head injury on the 800 block of Rice Street.
However, when medics arrived at the apartment, they found the boy had actually been shot. Medics called the police while attempting to revive the boy, but the child was ultimately pronounced dead.
Right now, investigators say the circumstances that led up to the shooting are unclear. Police say three minors who were in the apartment have been brought in for questioning.

This is the first year that St. Paul has surpassed 200 people shot, according to the police department, and 28 of the homicides have been shootings.

ST. PAUL Two days before Christmas, St. Paul marked a grim milestone when a 2-year-old was killed in a shooting in the city’s North End.
The homicide was the 34th of the year in St. Paul, tying the city’s record, which was set in 1992.
Officers were called to a Rice Street apartment between Winnipeg Avenue and Atwater Street shortly before 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

St. Paul police are investigating after a 2-year-old boy was struck and killed by gunfire in the city s North End on Wednesday, the latest in a string of deadly shootings that have surpassed totals not seen since the mid- 90s.
Officers were called to an apartment building at 850 Rice St. about 1:15 p.m. on a report of a child who had hurt his head. On arrival, they learned that the toddler suffered a gunshot wound. He died in the ambulance eight minutes later, said police spokesman Steve Linders.

ST PAUL, Minn. St. Paul investigators have made an arrest in connection with a fatal shooting Monday night on the city s north side. It was St. Paul s 33rd homicide of the year.
According to Saint Paul Police, officers responded to the 300 block of Larpenteur Ave. East just after 7 p.m. after a 911 call reported that someone had been shot. At the scene, officers found 56-year-old Todd Gerleman of South St. Paul with an apparent gunshot wound inside a vehicle. Authorities are still working to determine where exactly the shooting happened.

Police are investigating two shootings in St. Paul Sunday night, one that happened near the State Capitol and another near Prosperity Heights.
According to St. Paul police, an officer on patrol outside of Regions Hospital saw a van come squealing into the parking lot at a high rate of speed around 10:18 p.m.
There were several people in the van, including a 25-year-old man who was suffering from a couple gunshot wounds to his left leg. He told police the shooting happened near Rice Street and Sherburne Avenue.
