Internet traffic in Japan saw a 78-time increase in 2020 from the 2004 level, partly due to a surge in online communications in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, according to government data.
Compared to pre-COVID-19 levels in 2019, traffic climbed 1.6 times as the pandemic led to an increase in at-home videoconferencing, distance learning and video streaming.

Eternally 23: Remembering the Creative Works of Osamu Kobayashi
by Dawn H.,
Apr 26th 2021
On April 17th, 2021, acclaimed anime director
Osamu Kobayashi passed away from kidney cancer at the age of 57. An extraordinary voice in the world of anime, fans and industry folks alike took to social media to lament the loss of a creative mind gone too soon, myself included. Many shared their favorite clips and images of anime like
Paradise Kiss, two of the most popular titles he directed. But while many of his works are perfect examples of how anime can touch us deeply and spark our imagination, he somehow never became a household name among anime fans. Maybe part of that had to do with his somewhat atypical career path. While Kobayashi was a huge fan of anime and film in general, he first started out as a designer and illustrator, with seemingly no intention to seriously work in anime. At least, not right away.
Scarlet Nexus Footage Shows How to Serve Up Trouble for Barrista Santa
Ahead of launch, Bandai Namco’s gone through tactics people can employ when facing some of
Scarlet Nexus’ enemies. The latest video looks at a kind of Other called Barrista Santa. While it has a whimsical, jolly name, the
Scarlet Nexus footage shows how to handle a potentially fierce opponent.
This
Scarlet Nexus video involves a team that consists of Kasane Randall, Arashi Spring, and Shiden Ritter. The three are exploring a building when they come across a level 36 Barrista Santa. This kind of Other essentially covered itself in armor, with a shell you have to break to deal damage to it. It also uses its tentacles to grab things and throw them at you. Bandai Namco’s tip noted to use Clairvoyance, a power Tsugumi has, to see where thrown items might go. Kasane also borrows Shiden’s electrokinesis to damage it.
What They Say
“Many people have searched for it, many have stolen it, and many will kill for it. The Gad is a seemingly magical stone that, once making a strong spiritual connection with someone, will grow into a very powerful robot known as a Techode – a mechanical being that embodies the will of the bonded person. This is the story of Hajiki Sanada, a boy struggling to help support his fatherless family in an electricity-impoverished city known as Night Town. One day he encounters the Gad and a special bond is formed. Now his life will never be the same…”
