ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. A man whose blood-alcohol level was well above the legal limit when he drove onto a sidewalk and hit and killed a woman in 2018 was sentenced this week to 14 years in prison, according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney s Office.
Several family members of Jana Phillips were in the Arapahoe County courtroom on Wednesday when a judge sentenced the man who killed her, the DA s Office said in a news release.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. In the moments after two small planes crashed in mid-air over Cherry Creek State Park Wednesday, the pilot inside a single-engine Cirrus SR22 pulled a handle that fired a rocket to deploy a large parachute.
Cellphone video captured from the park showed the small plane floating to the ground where it came to rest in the grass beside a trail.
The pilot of the other plane, a Key Lime Air Metroliner, landed at Centennial Airport despite missing a large chunk of the fuselage. Two people inside the Cirrus also walked away without any injuries.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. â A Littleton man arrested for sexually assaulting a child he babysat has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
On March 12, Corey Medo, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child. He was originally arrested on suspicion of four felony counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, but the other charges were dropped as part of his plea agreement.
âA person who preys on children entrusted to his care deserves to go to prison,â District Attorney John Kellner said.
