The Jackson Town Council on Tuesday began discussions about town Ordinance 473, which makes it illegal for more than three unrelated people to live in a single-family dwelling within Jackson
Town, county and health officials are once again aligned in recommending that people only gather with members of their own households, this time to combat a surge in COVID-19 cases and the detection of a fast-spreading variant.
âIt is now more important than ever for members of our community, living and working in Teton County, to be vigilant,â the Teton County Board of County Commissioners wrote in an open letter stressing âpersonal responsibility.â
âWe must recognize the influence that individual actions have on our community. We are still all in this together, and we must all do our part,â the letter reads.
Jim Stanford spent the last eight years of his life vigorously fighting for and against various matters connected to Snow King Mountain Resort, aka âthe Town Hill,â as a member of the Jackson Town Council.
Now that heâs left the council â Stanford opted not to run for a third term and left the council at the turn of the new year â heâs able to enjoy the fruits of that labor, with his backyard sitting in Snow Kingâs shadow.
âIt feels great,â Stanford said in a recent interview. âIâm on day three as a free man. My first day as a free man was a powder day on Snow King, right behind my house here.
There was plenty of praise to go around Monday night as the Jackson Town Council thanked two outgoing members for their service, while welcoming two new faces to the council and former Vice-Mayor Hailey Morton Levinson to the mayorâs seat.
Councilors Jessica Sell Chambers, a political consultant, retired educator Jim Rooks and new Mayor Morton Levinson were all sworn in to their seats in an Oath of Office Ceremony on Monday morning, then participated in Monday eveningâs meeting for the first time in their new roles.
Morton Levinson replaced former Mayor Pete Muldoon, who was defeated by Chambers and Rooks in his bid for a council seat. Chambers and Rooks, meanwhile, filled the seats opened by outgoing two-term Councilor Jim Stanford, who chose not to run for reelection, and Morton Levinson.
