  Jammu: Rising to the occasion in the wake of the obtaining grim pandemic times, the War Room set up by the Department of Industries and Commerce, has facilitated the supply of 38,299 oxygen cylinders to Government Medical Colleges and its Associated Hospitals, far off healthcare centers and some private health institutions across the Jammu region in 14 days from 2nd to 15th of May, 2021. Government Medical College Hospital Jammu alone has been supplied 15052 cylinders in view of core rush in this premier health institution. Department of Industries and Commerce, under the guidance of Principal Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Ranjan Thakur, and Director, Industries and Commerce, Anoo Malhotra, has taken the charge of oxygen supply to the health institutions on a war-footing basis, keeping in view the spike in COVID cases. Consultant Microbiology GMC stresses on extra caution, 2nd wave Virus highly transmissive & fatal

  Jammu: ‘The Covid virus variant from the second wave is more transmissive and more fatal than the previous one. If we do not stop its chain of transmission, nothing can stop the virus from mutating further and producing deadlier variants’. The warning comes from Consultant Microbiology, Government Medical College Jammu, Dr Sandeep Dogra, who says that the variant is more virulent and more fatal. Dr Sandeep said that while the first wave mostly affected the middle aged, the old and the sick, the second wave is targeting to all age groups and is more transmissive on the whole. He says that the second wave has reached far into the rural areas of the country unlike the first one.

Massive augmentation of oxygen generation infrastructure in Jammu

Share Jammu : Government is continuing efforts for augmenting oxygen supply in hospital to meet the requirements in wake of rising number of cases and a large number of oxygen plants have been installed. Oxygen generation plants are under installation in many hospitals across Jammu province apart from recently commissioned. In view of rise in demand and augmentation of capacities authorities have started a comprehensive audit of oxygen requirement, supplies and availability capacities to ensure continued augmented supply. Presently sufficient oxygen supply is made available to all hospitals. The audit of oxygen infrastructure will cover a host of parameters aimed at planned augmentation and strengthening of infrastructure. Hospital management, Mechanical Engineering Department, Legal Metrology and concerned nodal officers have started the joint audit to assess the status and future requirements.
