A witness said a student, who tried to escape was shot dead while some others sustained injuries but Daily Trust cannot independently verify this claim.
Commenting on the abduction, Shehu Sani, a former Senator, said he has spoken with the principal of the school who confirmed the incident.

The incident happened 48 hours after 21 passengers heading to Minna, capital of Niger State, were abducted in broad daylight.

Two weeks to Christmas last year, an unfortunate episode happened at Kankara, the headquarters of Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, when gunmen invaded the Government Science Secondary School in the town and abducted over 340 pupils.
About 800 students were said to be at the school on December 11 when the attack occurred, but some of the pupils were able to scale the fence of the school and run to safety as the school’s security personnel tried to repel the bandit.
Although the schoolboys were freed about six days later, the incident brought back to memory the kidnappings of schoolgirls at Chibok (Borno State) and Dapchi (Yobe State) in 2014 and 2018, respectively.
The recent abduction of 344 students of the Government Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State from their school hostels is the single most audacious mass kidnapping since the crime became rife in Nigeria.
The Kankara abductions drew the attention of the global community almost in the way that the 2014 abductions of 276 schoolgirls from Chibok by Boko Haram did.
While the Kankara boys have been released after six days in captivity, over a hundred of the Chibok girls remain unaccounted for.
Other mass abductions of students in the country included the Dapchi abductions of February 19, 2018, where jihadi group, Boko Haram, stormed a school in Borno and kidnapped 110 students.
