After a launch night thriller played out to a peak audience of 1.8million viewers – the biggest audience for a women’s match in UK history – the boys were back to take their first taste of cricket’s newest experiment. It was also another chance to take in the oldest, most storied rivalry in Hundred history – Oval Invincibles versus Manchester Originals. Granted, this was the only the second time the fixture has ever been played, but it also constitutes every match in this format’s brief lifespan.

Sedbergh looks onto summer fair and visit from MP Tim Farron

The St Andrews Church Summer Fair takes place this Saturday July 24th. The Fair will feature sunshine (we hope), craft stalls, a bouncy castle and children s entertainer, coffees, teas, a raffle, and games, and will be held in the church and churchyard at St Andrews Sedbergh. It starts at 11 o clock and goes on until 4 in the afternoon. The next Artisan Market in the Main Street will happen on the following Saturday, July 31st. Further markets are scheduled for August 28th, and September 18th. First Class Cricket is featured again this week on the glorious Sedbergh School Cricket Field with the Howgill and Middleton Fells as a backdrop.

Kent Cricket extends sponsorship deal with Ramsgate construction firm WW Martin  |  Already an elite partner of the county side, the new agreement will continue its association with the club until 2022. The firm s name has appeared on Kent Spitfires shirts for the one-day competition - and will now appear on Championship tops. Picture: Ady Kerry The Ramsgate-headquartered firm first teamed up with the club in 2017 and has its name on the Kent Spitfires Royal London Cup kits. WW Martin’s logo will now also feature on the sleeve of Kent’s 2021 County Championship shirt. In addition, the firm will now work closer with Kent Cricket’s Community Team on initiatives to promote the recreational game throughout Kent.
