Cumbria Tourism preparing to showcase delights of county

Column by Cumbria Tourism: AS BRITONS prepare for their 2021 staycations, the county’s official destination management organisation (DMO) is preparing to showcase Cumbria’s delights at key trade shows across the county, showing potential visitors just why the county is head and shoulders above the rest. Forming part of Cumbria Tourism’s wider recovery marketing campaign, representatives will be attending both public and trade events, beginning with the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate this week. Joined by partner Northern Print Distribution (NPD) and business representatives from across the whole of the county, these events are the perfect opportunity to represent Cumbria, meet the public and help influence their future holiday plans.

Ribble Valley MP backs food festival rescue plan | Lancashire Telegraph

RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has thrown his weight behind efforts to run a scaled down Clitheroe Food Festival in September. The annual event, normally held in August and based around Castle Street and the market, was cancelled for the second year running earlier this month because of the coronavirus pandemic. But now newly-elected West Bradford and Grindleton Conservative Cllr Kevin Horkin has vowed to save it with a slimmed-down festival in September to be held on Clitheroe market car park as well as the adjacent street. The event traditionally draws thousands of visitors to the town. Mr Evans said: “The Ribble Valley economy relies heavily on the hospitality sector, and holding even a scaled back food festival would be a tremendous jab in the arm for local businesses.
