The court martial oversees cases where a breach of military discipline or other offences may have occurred. Chief of Navy, Rear Admiral David Proctor, said the sailor had “caused significant harm to his victims and brought the Royal New Zealand Navy into disrepute”. Earlier in the week, prosecutor Captain Grace Blanks said the case was about a “failure of comradeship” while the man was representing the New Zealand Defence Force.
He is also charged with unlawful sexual connection in relation to another colleague.
