The government should stop trying to suppress the voice of dissent through arrests, charges of sedition or causing enmity between communities and arm-twisting of social media platforms. And the Apex Court should pursue contempt charges, not against those who make open criticism of its rulings, but against the lower judiciary that subverts the constitutional order.

NEW DELHI: Congress MP Karti Chidambaram on Saturday took a dig at his own party after it announced organisational changes in its Tamil Nadu unit ahead of the assembly elections due this year.
In a major revamp, the party has named 32 vice presidents, 57 general secretaries and 104 secretaries in the jumbo state unit.
Karti, son of former finance minister P Chidambaram, said on Twitter, These jumbo committees serve no purpose. 32 VP, 57 GS, 104 Secretaries. None will have any authority which means no accountability.
The Congress MP from Sivaganga tagged the handles of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in his tweet.
Both Karti and his father P Chidambaram are included in a few panels.
