I know I shouldn’t feel this way. I fight it with everything I have. I’ve worked to feel something other than what my most base instincts are pulling at me to feel. My brain tells me to keep these thoughts somewhere in my gut, away from my mouth and the keyboard at my fingertips. But I can’t help it. The voice is still there:
Why aren’t police shooting these people?

As capitalism continues to fail and white “supremacy” is under deep scrutiny, the lines of patriotism are blurred by the very essence of what it means to be for liberation and humanity, and the diversity of who defines it. Those issues are invoked in this artwork for the National Black Theatre/Hi-ARTS production of Liza Jessie Peterson’s one
woman play “Peculiar Patriot.”
Greetings and Solidarity,
This generation of people who love liberation and humanity is making a magnificent effort to free us all from the chains of slavery. They have imagined a world that is free from the horrors of white male supremacy and patriarchy; and they are daring to make that world a reality.
Black mom and kids (Yay Images) The parenting bible, âWhat to Expect When Youâre Expecting,â teaches mothers what to anticipate over the course of their childrenâs lives. However, for mothers of Black children, there is a missing chapter: preparing them for racism and injustice. The voice of 46-year-old George Floyd pleading for his âmamaâ as he took his last breath echoes in the hearts, minds, and souls of mothers everywhere. There are no words of wisdom that prepare a mother to hear or watch her son die under a policemanâs knee. Even the threat of death or severe harm at the hands of law enforcement is enough to cause maternal panic or paralysis.
