MSP: Suspect killed in shooting involving Ionia County deputy

WOOD-TV 8 ROXAND TWP. State police say the driver of a stolen vehicle was killed in a shooting involving an Ionia County sheriff’s deputy early Wednesday in Eaton County. The incident happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Charlotte Street near W. Grand Ledge Highway in Mulliken in Eaton County reports WOOD-TV 8. State police say the deputy stopped the vehicle on Charlotte Street then a collision happened and shots were fired. The driver of the stolen vehicle was killed. The deputy, who has worked with the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office for three years, was not injured. It’s unknown where the vehicle was stolen.

Woodland man killed Sunday in Portland Township crash Sentinel Staff PORTLAND TWP. A 31-year-old Woodland man was killed early Sunday when the vehicle he was driving left an Ionia County roadway, overturning multiple times. Deputies with the Ionia County Sheriff s Office responded at 12:33 a.m. Sunday, May 16, to the scene of the crash on E. David Highway, east of Divine Highway. The preliminary investigation determined the Woodland man was traveling eastbound on E. David Highway in a 2014 Ford Taurus at high rate of speed.  When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the driver dead in his vehicle. The crash remains investigation, but police believe alcohol and narcotics to be factors in the crash.

Barry County man dies in Sunday morning crash Updated 11:03 AM; IONIA COUNTY, MI - A Woodland man died in a rollover crash early Sunday morning in Portland Township, according to a news release from the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office. At just after midnight Sunday, deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on E David Highway in Portland Township. Police believe a 31-year-old Woodland man was treveling eastbound at high speeds before leaving the road and overturning his vehicle multiple times. Deputies found the man dead in his vehicle. He was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol and narcotics are an apparent factor in the crash, according to the release. The crash is still under investigation.
