Emma Kapp crowned 2021 Ionia Free Fair queen IONIA For the first time in two years, the Ionia Free Fair has a new queen. Emma Kapp was crowned during the pageant Thursday, July 15. Kapp, of Ionia, is a 2021 graduate of Ionia High School.  Amelia Johnson, of Ionia, was selected first runner-up and Tanner Bowen, of Saranac, was named second runner-up. The queen and her court attend the fair s nine days, including participating in the parade Saturday, July 17. Kapp, Johnson and Bowen also received scholarships from Independent Bank and will represent the fair throughout the year until the next court is chosen.
