Ruston visual artist and Louisiana Tech School of Design professor Frank Hamrick is the recipient of Argent Financial Group’s Fellowship for the 2021 Hambidge Center’s Creative Residency Program, which includes a $700 stipend and a two-week residency at the Hambidge Center in Rural Gap, Ga., in July.
Hamrick is a tintype photographer and book artist, inspired by objects, the surrounding environment and the human experience. Besides serving as a professor, he is also Tech’s Master of Fine Arts Graduate Program Coordinator. Hamrick has also taught at the Penland School of Craft in North Carolina and the University of Georgia’s study abroad program in Cortona, Italy.

.-The Amon Carter Museum of American Art will present the first comprehensive survey of the work of Vietnamese-American photographer An-My Lê (b. 1960), on view April 18 through August 8, 2021. Featuring photographs from a selection of the artists five major bodies of work, the nationally touring An-My Lê: On Contested Terrain draws connections across Lês career and provides unprecedented insight into her subtle, evocative images that draw on the classical landscape tradition to explore the complexity of American history and conflict.

Now that we re seeing some glimmer of light at the end of the pandemic tunnel, Texans are feeling a little bit of that wanderlust again. The good news for Lone Star State travelers is two of the top U.S. destinations to visit in 2021 are right in the heart of Texas, according to Travel & Leisure.
Fort Worth and the Hill Country made the 50-location list. Fort Worth landed at the No. 15 spot. Some of the big draws to Fort Worth include the historic Fort Worth Stockyards, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art and the creative art project Art Tooth.
