Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Wednesday announced that a working group will be created, composed of well-known professionals, who will be in charge of providing technical criteria to update the number of COVID-19-related deaths in Peru. Within this framework, the high-ranking official stated that one of the critical issues is the death toll, which is why the Government in a spirit of transparency decided to establish this working group. We have made the decision to convene and create a technical working group, of a temporary nature and attached to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, with the aim of proposing and relying on technical criteria to update the numbers of deaths from COVID-19, she indicated.

Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has announced that the Peruvian Government agreed to extend until April 18 the validity of the current measures established in the regions at high, very high, and extreme risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order not to affect the electoral process, we will not make amendments to the classification of provinces, and each one of them will maintain their current alert level for one more week, she noted. The high-ranking official indicated that from now on the classification of the sanitary risk level of different provinces will be carried out every three weeks, which will allow greater predictability regarding the measures that have been adopted within the framework of the fight against the pandemic.
