Wed, Dec 16, 2020, 12:38 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Dec 16, Colombo: The Ministry of Highways has taken steps to commence construction work on the segment of the Central Expressway between Pothuhera and Galagedara on Saturday the 19th.
The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Saturday the 19th at 11.30 am under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Although the construction of several stages of the Central Expressway had commenced earlier, the construction of the 32.5 kilometer section from Pothuhera to Galagedara (Kandy) in Stage 3 had to be postponed due to various reasons.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa had recently instructed the relevant authorities to resolve the existing issues and commence the relevant constructions expeditiously.

Archbishop Cardinal Ranjith made this observation at the end of a discussion held at Temple Trees today with the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on resolving the problems of the families affected by the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday 2019 and on the future development of the affected churches.
The Prime Minister instructed the State Engineering Corporation to resume work on the 24 Housing Project in Katuwapitiya, for the victims of the Easter Sunday terror attack, and to complete it as soon as possible.
