Cairo: Jordan has said it will relax a complete curfew imposed on Fridays to allow for people to perform the congregation Friday prayer in mosques.
Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh issued a circular whereby citizens are allowed one hour to perform the Friday prayer in accordance with the medical protocol prescribed by the Health Ministry.
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Sanctities Mohammed Al Khalayleh said Thursday that the curfew will be lifted for one hour at noon from 12.20 until 1.20 to allow worshippers to walk to mosques for the Friday prayer.
The official urged worshippers to observe precautionary measures including physical distancing, using personal prayer rugs and wearing face masks.

The number of Covid-19 cases in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) region crossed 6,079,873 on 15 March, according to Worldometers data collated by MEED.
Countries in the GCC account for about 24 per cent (1,468,901) of all regional cases, and Iran’s 1,754,933 confirmed infections make up 29 per cent of the regional 6 million infections.
Since
8 March, 228,329 new Covid-19 cases have been detected in 17 Mena countries tracked by MEED.
Case growth has been driven by countries such as Jordan, where total infections grew from 427,717 on 8 March to 477,053 on 15 March.
The healthcare situation has worsened in Jordan over the past week, with Health Minister Nazir Obeidat resigning after at least seven Covid-19 patients died when a hospital’s oxygen supply failed on 13 March.

His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Monday directed the relevant agencies to start executing the Brothers in Arms” programme to support retired servicemen and veterans.
Chairing a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, King Abdullah saluted his brothers in arms on the occasion of Veterans Day, reaffirming pride in their service to the nation and paying tribute to the martyrs of the JAF and security agencies.
