Covid kills six more in Sindh as another 952 test positive

Six more people have died due to Covid-19 and 952 others have tested positive for the disease during the past 24 hours in Sindh, with the death toll due to the viral coronavirus infection reaching 4,599 in the province.
The prevalence of the coronavirus has reached 9.64 per cent in Karachi and 16.74 per cent in Hyderabad, while it has been recorded at 3.01 per cent in other districts of the province. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in his daily situation report on the health emergency on Sunday that 16,938 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, resulting in 952 people, or six per cent of those who were screened, being diagnosed with Covid-19.
The controversy about the population census is making the issues in fiscal federalism more complicated and challenging to resolve as policymakers have been stuck with the 7th National Finance Commission (NFC) award for over a decade.
The majority decision by the Council of Common Interest (CCI) to validate the 2017 Population Census and hold a fresh consensus for the next general elections has been rejected by Sindh, one of the country’s four federating units.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has made a pertinent point: in the past, CCI decisions were taken by the consensus of all stakeholders and not by a majority decision.

Six more people have died due to Covid-19 and 923 others have tested positive for the disease during the past 24 hours in Sindh, with the death toll due to the viral coronavirus infection reaching 4,593 in the province.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in his daily situation report on the health emergency on Saturday that 12,104 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, resulting in 923 people, or eight per cent of those who were screened, being diagnosed with Covid-19.
The provincial government has so far conducted 3,549,387 tests, which have resulted in 277,592 positive cases, which means that eight per cent of those screened have been found to be infected, he added.

KARACHI: Three more people have died due to Covid-19 and 885 others have tested positive for the disease during the past 24 hours in Sindh, with the death toll due to the viral coronavirus infection reaching 4,562 in the province.
Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in his daily situation report on the health emergency on Wednesday that 12,881 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, resulting in 885 people, or seven per cent of those who were screened, being diagnosed with Covid-19.
The provincial government has so far conducted 3,511,838 tests, which have resulted in 275,080 positive cases, which means that eight per cent of those screened have been found to be infected, he added.
