Public Works Department (JKR) Acting Director of Drainage and Sewerage Haji Mazlan bin Haji Abdul Salim yesterday said plans are underway to further expand paddy cultivation to nearly 500 hectares while ensuring that new facilities and infrastructure are in place to ensure a bountiful paddy harvest.
He made these comments at the start of the launch of the infrastructure for the second phase of the commercial paddy plantation project in the Agricultural Development Area (KKP) Kandol in Belait District.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 15 (Borneo Bulletin/ANN): The second Brunei Darussalam Islamic Capital Market Conference (BICAM) will take place on June 2-3, said the Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) has announced in a statement.
The conference is organised with the collaboration of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), Malaysia and the support of Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD).
It will also be held during the first week of the Brunei-Mid Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE), an event organised by the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT), with the theme ‘Islamic Week’.
The conference objectives include discussing issues and challenges in the development of the Islamic capital market, especially in the context of Brunei Darussalam as well as strategies in promoting resiliency, sustainability and inclusivity of an Islamic capital market ecosystem, said BILIF.
