State-owned Coal India Ltd (CIL) will continue with the supply of coal to the power plants under import substitution in the ongoing fiscal (FY). The development assumes significance in the wake of the PSU earlier stating its drive for coal import substitution has gained tempo with consumers opting for approximately 90 million t of indigenous coal in FY21.
“The issue of supply coal in the FY21 – 22 was deliberated during the sub-group meeting…chaired by Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, wherein it has been decided to continue the supply of coal to the power plants under import substitution mechanism for FY21 – 22,” CIL said in a notice.

WCL CMD Manoj Kumar gets additional charge of CMPDIL
Manoj Kumar, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) has been entrusted with the additional charge of CMD of CMPDIL. The order issued by the Ministry of Coal today in this regard will be effective from 1st May 2021 for a period of six months or till the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post, or till the further orders, whichever is earliest. Manoj Kumar had assumed the charge of CMD of WCL on January 1, 2021.Earlier Kumar was the Director Technical (Operations) of WCL.

NEW DELHI: The coal ministry has set up a monitoring cell for rendering help to its officials and their family members who have been tested positive for Covid-19 and are under home quarantine or admitted in hospitals for treatment.
The ministry mentioned that a large number of officials in the coal ministry have tested positive for Covid-19 at a time when the country is in the grip of a devastating second wave of the pandemic.
The Covid Monitoring Cell, set up by the Coal Ministry on Friday, will also help the family members of the officials found to be tested positive for the deadly virus.
