House panel arrives in Kashmir to assess road, travel and hospitality sectors ANI | Updated: Jan 21, 2021 07:40 IST
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], January 21 (ANI): The parliamentary standing committee on transport, tourism and culture arrived in Kashmir on Wednesday on a three-day visit to make an assessment of road, travel and hospitality sectors.
According to a statement, the committee which is headed by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament from Madhya Pradesh T G Venkatesh, scheduled to meet various stakeholders to have an appraisal of the issues pertaining to these sectors. It will hold a meeting with concerned stakeholders on issues related to road, travel and hospitality sectors on the day of visit.
Scrappage policy may be a part of Budget 2021-22: Report
On July 26, 2019, the government had proposed amendments to motor vehicle rules to allow the scrapping of vehicles older than 15 years in a bid to spur the adoption of electrical vehicles.
Under the new policy, commercial 15-year-old vehicles and 20-year-old private vehicles can be considered for scrapping.
The vehicle scrappage policy may be announced in the Union Budget 2021-22 and the final decision on the same would to be taken by the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister s Office (PMO), CNBC-TV18 reported on January 11.
Under the new policy, commercial 15-year-old vehicles and 20-year-old private vehicles can be considered for scrapping. The Centre has prepared a Cabinet note on the policy, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways VK Singh told Rajya Sabha on September 19.
