This Ministry of Education and Research has planned a legal amendment in winter, which removes an obligation for parents whose children don't attend a kindergarten to go to development report meetings once per year, with their child. According to the new plan, children can get their assessment with their family doctor instead.
The Mustamäe state high school to be developed in the Mustamäe district of Tallinn will open its doors in 2023, a year later than was initially projected. The Ministry of Education and Research said supply difficulties in the construction sector are to blame.
The coronavirus tests of ten people or 0.4 percent of 2,502 people tested ahead of the Estonian language state examination proved positive on Friday.
A total of 2,608 people, including 106 observers, were tested by the Ministry of Education and Research and SYNLAB on Friday.
Ten exam-takers tested positive and must now isolate. They can take the exam at a later time.
The ten people are from nine schools and five counties. One observer also tested positive for COVID-19.
The Estonian language state examination will take place Monday. The ministry emphasizes that exam-takers, members of the exam committee and observers must stay home if they exhibit symptoms of any kind. All general precautions need to be taken during state examinations, including maintaining distance, dispersion, airing out rooms, wearing a mask and disinfecting hands.

While the first shipment of the long-awaited AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in Estonia on Sunday, the 7,200 doses are currently in storage as schools are still drawing up and sending their lists of vaccine applicants to the Ministry of Education and Research.
Last Thursday, February 4, the government approved a decision to add education workers to the list of frontline workers, prioritized for vaccinations. The next day, the Ministry of Social Affairs gave the Ministry of Education the responsiblity to gather up lists of vaccine applicants from education establishments.
A bill sent out for coordination would see local governments reserve kindergarten places nearest to home for all children. Local governments would have to notify parents of the designation 90 days before the child turns 18 months old.
The city of Tallinn finds that choice of kindergarten should stay with parents and that primary education should have as few rules as possible. Our studies show that parents base their choice of kindergarten on many different factors, such as nearness to place of work, nearness to home. A lot of times kindergartens are chosen based on distance from grandparents, Andres Pajula, head of the Tallinn Education Department, told ERR, adding that the ministry s amendment plan fails to consider the interests of parents.
