ALAM: Pharmaniaga Bhd (Pharmaniaga) assures the Covid-19 vaccine, CoronaVac produced by Chinese pharmaceutical company, Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd (Sinovac), is safe, effective and halal.
Pharmaniaga Research and Development Division head, Dr Badarulhisam Abdul Rahman, said the vaccine produced using inactive virus technology is the most effective and proven method for the past 40 years.
“The same method is also used for the production of vaccines for dangerous diseases such as Polio and Hepatitis A. This technology has proven to be effective compared to other new technologies whose risks are not yet known,” he said when presenting the development of the vaccine virtually, today.

BHARU: A total of 22,500 bottles of flavoured vape liquid estimated to be worth RM825,000 were seized by a team from the 9th Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF9) at a house in Kampung Degong Telaga Mas, Pasir Mas, early today.
GOF9 commanding officer Supt Nor Azizan Yusof said they also arrested a 30-year-old local man in the 1 am raid.
“During the raid, the police inspected the house in the presence of the owner but did not find any illegal items, before finding a van outside the house. However, another man came and claimed that the van was his,“ he said in a statement, today.

KUALA LUMPUR: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) lodged a police report today to deny allegations that the Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Sungai Besar, Selangor had failed to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) to contain the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Mara in a statement today said immediate action had been taken by creating a task force led by college principals comprising teachers and staff since the first day Covid-19 was detected. The task force conducts daily sanitation work with advice and monitoring from the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM).
