Eggtronic Laptop Power Bank for the Cabin
At 63 watts of total output, the Eggtronic Laptop Power Bank is enough to recharge my devices. Spending more time in the North Cascades, I need backup power. I’ll use the Eggtronic Laptop Power Bank ($60 on Amazon) until I can get the generator running. The wood stove fired up and power back to the house, as needed.
The portable charger comes equipped with two USB-A ports to recharge as well as a 45W USB-C port. The power bank is covered in soft, water-repellent linen canvas. It has a soft touch frame around the side. The built-in LCD display the remaining battery life in a clear number. Bonus the canvas cover matches the Peak Design tripod I carry and their phone cases.

Going Carfree with Tern: Easier Than You Think
Going carfree with Tern is easier than you think. And, if my neighborhood is any indication, lots of families are doing it. That’s because owning a car can be a costly endeavor: fuel, insurance, repairs. It adds up. Cargo bikes have gotten significantly better too.
If you’re considering the transition, this video from Ebiketips offers 5 tips The video features Tern GSDs.
Going Carfree with Tern is also possible with their other models, like the HSD. Consider it as a last mile solution for commuters who use transit then zip into town from a stop. HSD stands for

New Fizik Saddle Bag: All Conditions
There’s a new Fizik saddle bag out and it looks sleek. I prefer a storage barrel (fits in a bottle cage) these days or a boxy bike bag, but do appreciate the design. That’s because the bag is made from a combination of durable, PU-coated polyester fabric. With a waterproof zipper to block bad weather, while allowing for easy access to your tools.
The bag attaches with straps to the saddle rails. And, has space for a spare inner tube, co2 cartridge and inflator, tire levers and a multitoolâwith room for cash and an emergency gel. Waterproof construction means you won’t reach in to find a corroded set of tools.

Trek Supercaliber For Distant Days
The Trek Supercaliber is for distant days and social distancing. As their marketing states, the Supercaliber rides somewhere in between a full suspension and a hardtail. It was my choice to be distant during COVID-19 and the Supercaliber took me there. Designed as a short-travel racing bike, I rode it in the wilds of Washington’s North Cascades. Rides were fast and hard, but there was no pinning a number on or lining up for a mass start.
Up early for the golden hour.
During all the hours I spent on the Supercaliber, I only saw a smattering of other cyclists. Like me, they kept on pedaling with balaclavas pulled up over their mouths and noses, exchanging pleasantries as we passed. It turns out that the spec of a full-on racing bike serves the behavior of a former racer, even if they’re riding alone.
