Village can now begin an exciting roll out of village
activations. Locals and visitors to Auckland have had a
taste of the America’s Cup Race Village experience during
the ACWS and the PRADA Cup, but just as you can expect a
whole lot of great action on the water for the America’s
Cup Match, it’s heating up just as much on
shore.
The Eastern Viaduct will continue with the
Merchandise store, where fans can buy their favourite team

(Reuters) - Holders Team New Zealand roared back to beat Luna Rossa and make it 3-3 in the 36th America’s Cup match off the coast of Auckland on Saturday, after the Italian challengers dominated the day’s opening race.

TNZ hit speeds of over 40 knots in the second race to cross the line in 27 minutes and 27 seconds, a minute and 41 seconds ahead of Luna Rossa, to the delight of most of the roughly 15,000 fans on the quay and some 2,000 spectator boats.
“That was a good one, to have the boat speed like that,” TNZ flight controller Blair Tuke said. “The big speed difference was pleasing and like yesterday, a really good reply from the guys. A good way to finish another tight day.

Yachting fever has taken over SkyCity Auckland, as proud partners of Emirates Team New Zealand in their defence of the 36th America’s Cup.
To celebrate the world’s fastest sailors taking flight on the Waitematā Harbour this weekend, a jib sail used by Emirates Team NZ to win the 2017 America’s Cup in Bermuda will be displayed in the atrium, while flags from all of the participating teams have been suspended down Federal Street and across the SkyCity plaza.
New Zealand Chief Operating Officer Callum Mallett says he’s excited that SkyCity is part of such an important event showcasing Tāmaki Makaurau and Aotearoa New Zealand on the world stage.
Defender Team New Zealand and Italian challenger Luna Rossa won one race each on the second day of racing Friday at Auckland to be tied at 2-2 in the best-of-13 race series. America’s Cup matches, over 170 years, haven’t typically been close but this contest seems likely to remain so as long as the wind stays light and starts remain hugely influential. Luna Rossa won the start in the first race Friday and took the race by 37 seconds; Team New Zealand took the start in the second race and won by 63 seconds.
