The Maine Nordiques had a taste of their own medicine.
A day after defeating the Northeast Generals by five goals, the Generals returned the favor Saturday with an 8-2 victory Saturday night at Androscoggin Bank Colisee in a North American Hockey League East Division contest.
Brent Keefer had two goals for the Generals (12-21-3, 27 points) while David Andreychuk chipped in with a goal and two assists.
After getting pulled Friday, Hugo Haas responded with a 51-save effort for the Generals.
The Nordiques (21-11-1, 43 points) jumped out to a 1-0 lead when 20-year-old defenseman James Philpott notched his sixth goal of the season. Assists went to Colorado College commit Patrick Schmiedlin and Long Island University commit Isaiah Fox on the goal 4:49 into the game.
The Maine Nordiques frustrated the Maryland Black Bears with relentless puck pressure Monday afternoon.
The Nordiques defeated the Black Bears 4-1 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the Ice World Arena in Edgewood, Maryland.
“Everything, in terms of momentum and sustained momentum, was rooted from our forecheck,” Maine Nordiques associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said. “Our forecheck was fabulous, and it started in one big-time wave from the Cannon Green, Makem Demers and Patrick Schmiedlin line. It followed right down the lineup.”
Luke Antonacci opened the scoring for the Nordiques (17-9-1, 35 points), scoring the only goal of the first period with seven minutes remaining. The goal was set up by James Philpott and Jack Strauss.

The Maine Nordiques have had the New Jersey Titans’ number in the teams’ first four meetings this year.
The four-game win streak was snapped Saturday when the Titans came away with a 3-1 win at the Middletown Ice World Arena in Middletown, New Jersey.
The loss means the Nordiques (16-9-1, 33 points) are now in a first-place tie with the Johnstown Tomahawks (15-4-3, 33 points) in the North American Hockey League’s East Division.
Blake Humphrey had a goal and an assist to lead the Titans (8-12-5, 21 points), who are in fourth in the East Division.
The Titans took a 1-0 lead when Stephen Willey, who has committed to play at Army after his time in junior hockey is over, beat Nordiques goalie Tyriq Outen (31 saves) on a 2-on-1 midway through the first period. Jack Karlsson recorded the assist.

Six different players had a goal as the Maine Nordiques defeated the New Jersey Titans 6-3 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the Middletown Ice World Arena in Middletown, New Jersey on Friday night.
Stefan Owens, Caper Soderling and Tristan Fasig each had a goal and an assist for the Nordiques.
“Every line contributed a goal, our power play got one and our (penalty kill was phenomenal,” Maine Nordiques coach Nolan Howe said. “We gave up one with four seconds left (on the penalty) on our last kill. Special teams were fantastic and I thought our (defense) had a great game, too, with Ty (Outen) in net. It was a complete team effort.”
The mountain was too high to climb for the Maine Nordiques on Friday afternoon.
Luke Mountain, a University of Vermont commit, had a hat trick as the Maryland Black Bears defeated the Nordiques 4-1 in a North American Hockey League East Division contest at the Ice World in Englewood, Maryland.
It’s the second straight week the teams earned a split, as the Black Bears defeated Maine last Thursday.
“We came in a strong positive frame of mind,” Maine Nordiques associate head coach Matt Pinchevsky said. “The best thing that could have happened to us today was giving up that first goal against because it woke everybody up and upped everybody’s senses a little bit.”
