Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said there is a great chance Republicans and Democrats can reach an agreement on an infrastructure bill after President Joe Biden has pushed for a new round of spending.
The Kentucky Republican met with Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on Wednesday to discuss a long-awaited infrastructure package. McConnell said he was firm with the Democratic leaders on refusing to budge on tax increases. (CNSNews.com) - Congressional Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy came away from a White House meeting with President Joe Biden on Wednesday, optimistic about striking a deal on infrastructure, as long as it does not include tax hikes, as Biden has proposed.

On Thursday President Biden is scheduled to meet with six Republican senators to discuss ways to get to “yes” on infrastructure legislation. It is in the nation’s interest that this dialogue leads to a mutual agreement defining infrastructure needs and a way to pay for them.
Republicans and Democrats agree on the importance of building a 21st-century infrastructure if the United States is to prosper and compete with China. President Biden’s American Jobs Act is a $2.3 trillion initiative to upgrade our infrastructure, and also fund social and economic opportunity programs. It would be financed by increasing the corporate income tax rate as well as cracking down on tax evasion schemes.
