“Renewable natural gas,” or RNG, is an alternative gas fuel that comes from landfills, manure, or synthetic processes. That’s opposed to the fossil gas that drillers traditionally pump out of underground reserves in oil and gas fields.
With “renewable” in the name, it may sound like a promising alternative to the fossil-based “natural” gas commonly used for heating and cooking in buildings. According to a new report from Earthjustice and Sierra Club, however, these fuels pitched as “renewable ” and environmentally friendly alternatives to fossil gas amount to a PR campaign meant to distract from efforts to convert the building sector to all electric power.

On April 15, Judge Brian Morris nullified water-crossing permits in Montana that were granted for the Keystone XL, a major setback for the long-embattled tar sands oil pipeline. The ruling came just days after Keystone XL owner TC Energy, formerly known as TransCanada, obtained billions of dollars in subsidies from the Alberta government as global oil prices plummeted.
The oil and gas industry has taken notice. Seemingly just a ruling on Keystone XL the subject of opposition by the climate movement for the past decade the ruling could have far broader implications for the future of building water-crossing pipelines and utility lines.

The Omnicom-owned public-relations firm Porter Novelli has struggled for years, with its revenue sliding from an estimated $127 million in 2014 to $110 million in 2019.
Now, Porter Novelli is trying to jump-start its business under David Bentley, a vet of McKinsey and the ad agency AKQA who became CEO in March 2020, replacing Brad MacAfee.
Under Bentley, the firm has focused on four areas with an emphasis on purpose-driven marketing and the goal of broadening the scope of the work it does for clients:

FERC’s Proposed Natural Gas Price Index Changes Draw Mixed Reaction
Market participants are largely in favor of proposed federal modifications to the natural gas price indices policy to enhance price transparency and encourage transaction reporting to developers such as Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI).
However, some respondents to FERC’s call for comments said the amendment to codify the “safe harbor” provision could go further (No. PL20-3-000). As proposed, it would add a layer of clarity to “promote voluntary reporting of wholesale natural gas and electricity transactions” by “alleviating market participant concerns that the safe harbor policy is not binding on the Commission.”
