On Earth Day especially, everyone is reminded of the continued need to protect our natural resources. According to the American Dairy Association North East, for dairy farmers, sustainability is a major focus every day when they produce nutritious milk it s made with care for the planet in mind.

Dairy farmers from Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania participated in a social media âtake overâ hosted by American Dairy Association North East and the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.
During a live, one-hour conversation, the farmers discussed their environmental practices to protect local water quality and to protect their downstream neighbors.
Participating farmers included Katie Dotterer-Pyle of Cow Comfort Inn Dairy in Union Bridge, Maryland; Mike McMahon of E-Z Acres Farm in Homer, New York; and Chris and Laura Landis of Worth the Wait Farms in Stevens, Pennsylvania.
âWe have a responsibility, when you farm in an environmentally sensitive area, to protect it, and our first concern is the neighborhood around us,â McMahon said. âAnd even though weâre 250 miles away from the bay, preservation starts here.â

Pennsylvania dairy farmers working through the American Dairy Association North East alongside Global Trading LLC and YMCA of Centre County will hold a free milk and food drive on Wednesday, April 21.
The drive will have 1296 food boxes containing a gallon of milk, and assorted dairy produce and meat products, according to a news release.
The drive will take place on Locust Lane between East College Avenue and East Calder Way from 4-6 p.m.
Walk-ups to the drive are not permitted, and those receiving the food boxed are asked to remain in their vehicles and open their trunks to receive the food.
