Warrior season 3 on the way as it moves to HBO Max April 14, 2021 by: Once upon a time, Bruce Lee developed a potential TV series about a martial artist in the American Old West. Networks weren t interested, but Warner Bros. allegedly took that concept and transformed it into Kung Fu, the 70s series starring David Carradine, and gave Lee no credit. Decades later, the original concept was brought back to life as Warrior, an action-packed series that stars Andrew Koji as Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who emigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances and becomes a hatchet man for one of Chinatown’s most powerful crime families.

The makeup of the cast carries extra weight given that  Kung Fu is a reimagining of the 1972 television show of the same name by Ed Spielman, which followed the story of the half-Chinese, half-white Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine, played by David Carradine, a white actor. The new adaptation arrives at a time when calls for an end to Hollywood’s whitewashing of roles have gotten louder.
