Netflix has ordered
Locke and Key season 3 ahead of the season 2 premiere. The show is based on the comic book series created by
Joe Hill and
Gabrielle Rodriguez, which follows a family that loses its patriarch and then moves into a spooky house where all sorts of mysterious things happen. The show had a bumpy road to the screen, first starting off at Fox, then moving to Hulu, before finally ending up on Netflix.
Variety is reporting that Netflix has given the go-ahead for
Locke and Key season 3 ahead of the season 2 premiere, which is set for 2021. Production on season 2 is wrapping this week in Toronto, and season 3 will being production sometime early next year. “I’m incredibly grateful to have found a home at Netflix where I feel constantly supported, challenged, and inspired,” said executive producer and co-showrunner
Peacock has announced that they have officially decided to renew Glenn Howerton’s comedy series
A.P. Bio for an 8-episode fourth season which is expected to premiere sometime in 2021. This comes after more than three months since the third season made its debut last September. Check out the renewal announcement video below!
“Everyone involved is so excited to do more episodes,” showrunner Mike O’Brien said in a statement (via The Hollywood Reporter).
“We’re so thankful to Peacock and everyone who watched! Season three was the most fun we’ve had. I want to dig even deeper into the main characters and also keep messing with the sitcom format.”
On a macro level, the absence of stakes is one of the (many) problems plaguing
Shameless entering its final season. Whether due to the absolute disinterest in continuity between seasons or the siloing of storylines from one another, the show’s writers have used the idea of the show as a “sitcom” to abandon the type of storyline that felt like it could fully disrupt these characters’ lives. Even in a season with a deadly pandemic, the show remains defined by this sense that no matter what is going on around them, the Gallaghers are always going to be Gallaghers, and that’s the comic/dramatic constant the show wants to focus on.
