Phoenix is exploring ways to add more trees throughout the city.
The budget approved by the Phoenix City Council last month includes money for the position of Tree and Shade Administrator, as well as for planting more trees across the city.
According to new data from the group American Forests, there are particular parts of Phoenix that are more in need of trees than others.
The Tree Equity Score maps tree cover in cities, although Jad Daley says those maps are also generally maps of income and race, as well.
Daley is the president and CEO of American Forests, and he also says tree inequities have become a life or death issue for many Americans in our changing climate.
