Sappi receives sustainability award for money-saving environmental project at Somerset Mill
The company was named a recipient of the Leadership in Sustainability Water Award from the American Forest & Paper Association for a project at the Somerset Mill in Skowhegan.

SKOWHEGAN Sappi North America received an environmental award earlier this month for a project completed at the Somerset Mill.
Sappi was named a recipient of the Leadership in Sustainability Water Award from the American Forest & Paper Association as part of its “Better Practices, Better Planet” Sustainability Awards Program. The project, titled Caustic Reclaim and Reuse, was accomplished in Skowhegan at the Somerset Mill.

Brock added that a common mistake people make at the end of the year is “Wishcycling.”
American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released its November 2020 Printing-Writing Monthly report.
According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 24% in November compared to November 2019. U.S. purchases of total printing-writing papers decreased 16% in November compared to the same month last year. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels increased 1% when compared to October 2020.
Uncoated free sheet (UFS) paper shipments decreased 17% compared to November 2019 while the inventory level increased 1% compared to October 2020. UFS imports and exports both decreased compared to October 2019, down 12% and 40%, respectively.
U.S. purchases of coated free sheet (CFS) papers in November decreased 23% compared to last November while the inventory level increased 3% compared to October 2020. CFS imports and exports both decreased compared to October 2019, down 42% and 18%, respectively.
