With International Labour Organization (ILO) projecting that economy of most countries will recover in the second half of 2021, depending on Covid-19 vaccination rollout, India may expect its wrecked economy to heal after kicking off its nationwide Covid-19 immunisation program that completed 10 days on Tuesday.
CHITRAL: Local political activists have demanded of the government to start work on rehabilitation of protection walls and diversion of river and stream during the ongoing winter season as work on such sites would not be possible from mid-March when the water level rises.
Amirullah Khan, Upper Chitral district president of PPP, said that segments of roads and irrigation channels and some villages were on the verge of being eroded into the river.
He said that no work was possible when the water level increased in spring season.
He said that as the practice in vogue the funds for protection and rehabilitation works were released to the departments of communication and works, irrigation, public health engineering and TMA in April and work was started two to three months later in June or July.

The year 2020 has been about containing the outbreak of COVID-19 with governments across the world dedicating the maximum proportion of their resources and time for the same. The Indianlandscape was no different with the pandemic dictating policymaking decisions. There is now great vaccine excitement and the roll-out will be watched with great attention across the world. The Indian government is yet not clear on its stance – will everyone get the vaccine? Who will pay for it?
How soon will two-thirds of the population be covered? Approvals are being given now. There is equal amount of scepticism and optimism with regard to the vaccine. However, the virus still looms large and needs to be treated with great caution.
