Seeking to allay fears created among the people of the hills by TMC s lies , Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted today that the National Register of Citizens (NRC) will have no impact on the Gorkhas.
Mr Shah, during an address after a roadshow in Kalimpong, said as long as the Narendra Modi-led BJP government is there at the centre, no Gorkha will be harmed. NRC has not yet been implemented, but whenever it is done, not a single Gorkha will be asked to leave, the senior BJP leader said.

Bengal polls 2021: Amit Shah to address 6 public programs in poll-bound state today
Union Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah is set to address six public programs in poll-bound West Bengal on Sunday. Out of the six public programs, he will address three roadshows in the state today. At first, Shah will carry out a roadshow in Santipur at 12:20 PM. After concluding this event, another roadshow will be carried out in Ranaghat Dakshin at 1:30 PM.
At 3:40 PM, Shah will address a public meeting in Basirhat Dakshin. The fourth event will be a roadshow in Panihati at 04:25 PM.Â
The last two public programs will be in the form of town hall meetings.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday alleged that the operation against Naxals in Chhattisgarh, in which 22 security personnel were killed, was incompetently executed and poorly designed . Our jawans are not cannon fodder to be martyred at will, Gandhi said on Twitter.
Out of the 22 fatalities in the Saturday Naxal attack in the state, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) lost eight men, including seven CoBRA commandos, while one jawan is from the Bastariya battalion, eight from the DRG and five from the Special Task Force.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Chhattisgarh on Monday to chair a high-level meeting in connection with the Maoist attack in the state s Bastar region that claimed the lives of 22 security personnel, a senior official said.
Mr Shah will reach the Jagdalpur airport (in Bastar district) at around 10.35 am, following which he will attend the wreath-laying ceremony to pay respect to the personnel killed in the attack, at the Police Lines here, he said.
It will be Mr Shah s first visit to the Bastar region after assuming the charge of Union home minister, he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a colourful roadshow here in West Midnapore district on Sunday as he sought to bolster the BJP s campaign in West Bengal ahead of the assembly elections. The road show, which commenced at the local BJP office, Premhari Bhavan , and concluded at Malancha petrol pump in the town, covered a distance of nearly one kilometre. Shah was accompanied by BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and party state president Dilip Ghosh. Thousands of supporters took part in the rally, which began after sundown, as residents stood on balconies and rooftops to witness the show. Shah waved at the spectators and showered rose petals on the participants of the roadshow, as saffron party candidate for Kharagpur Sadar constituency Hiran Chatterjee, who is also a film star, stood by his side.
