Former BCB president Kamal Ziaul Islam dies aged 86 ESPN 04 May 2021, 00:53 GMT+10 Former BCB president Kamal Ziaul Islam, popularly known as KZ Islam, has died in Dhaka. He was 86. Islam was the president of the board, then known as the BCCB, between 1983 and 1987. During his term, he made the important contribution of introducing the country s first school-cricket competition. He funded the tournament through his company, Nirman International Ltd, which gave it its name: the Nirman School Cricket Tournament. The competition moulded many top-class cricketers - Habibul Bashar, Khaled Mahmud and Javed Omar emerged from its first batch. Islam also set up the Nirman XI cricket team in the Dhaka league, which was promoted up to the List A Dhaka Premier League in the early 1990s. At one time, Islam hired Northamptonshire s Alan Fordham as player-coach of the Nirman side, and even arranged a private England tour for the team s young players.

Assembly polls result: Early trends show AIADMK and DMK in close race in TN

It is going to be a close contest between the ruling AIADMK alliance and the opposition DMK alliance in the 2021 assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, going by the early trends announced by the Election Commission of India on Sunday. According to the Election Commission, the ruling AIADMK is leading in 35 constituencies while its allies BJP is leading in 3 and PMK in 5 seats. On the other hand, the DMK is leading in 38 seats and its two left allies and VCK are leading in one seat each, while Congress is leading in 3 constituencies. The initial trends seem to be contrary to the various opinion surveys and exit polls that said DMK would sweep the elections in the state.

27th April, 2021 08:53:05 Bangladesh national football team’s captain Jamal Bhuyan returned home from Denmark on Monday after solving some passport issues while national football team’s striker Nabib Newaz Jibon also returned on the same day from India. Both are now in quarantine. After playing the tri-nation tournament in Nepal, Jamal Bhuyan went to Denmark on a leave to visit his family because the second round of Bangladesh Premier League was uncertain due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) recently announced the date of second round of BPL from April 30. So, Jamal has came in Dhaka to play for Saif Sporting Club.
