PM evades net zero commitment triggering backlash from climate summit13/12/2020|3min
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been forced to defend its climate policy after being snubbed by a virtual climate summit and accused of inaction.
Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie pointed out Australia hasn’t announced a net zero target while countries like China, Japan and the European Union and leaders like President-elect Joe Biden have committed to various net zero policies.
“We haven’t been offered a leadership spot because we are not leading, she said.
The prime minister told a virtual Pacific Island Climate Forum he was very confident in reductions targets but refused to renounce the use of carry-over credits.
