Less is more?
Happy spring. If you haven’t done it yet, you may turn off your heat tape (or any heating system for driveways or patios). Remember, these are great, convenient ways to prevent buildup of snow and ice, but they are not there for melting late-winter snows. Heat tape is commonly installed on north-facing roofs to prevent damage that could be caused by ice dams. Please know that conditions for ice dams are behind us.
If you live downvalley, when February arrives next year, notice if the heat tape has kept the snow from building-up on the eaves of your roof where ice dams form. By then, the job is probably done. Warmer daytime temperatures and higher sun in March can be expected to melt off the new snow, and your heat tape can be turned off.

GOOD MORNING, MASSACHUSETTS. Happy Monday!
BAKER S POPULARITY SAGS It looks like Gov. Charlie Baker s approval rating took a hit during the coronavirus pandemic.
The rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine at the beginning of the year, in particular, hurt the governor s standing among residents. An
online survey from three universities Harvard, Northeastern and Rutgers showed Baker s approval rating for how he handled the pandemic dropped by 21 percentage points. Baker s
approval rating was at about 80 percent in April of last year, and by this February had gradually declined to 59 percent.
That tracks with a UMass Amherst poll
Burke, who is the archbishop at Hartford’s Walk In The Light Church of God, says the vision for the new restaurant came while witnessing the challenges created by the pandemic. He and his wife, Amanda have seen the need directly in their community.
“It’s unprecedented right now, the number of people who are going without food,” said Amanda Burke.
Addressing these issues, the Burkes say their new restaurant will not only
sell food but occasionally
give it away to those in need. Free food however, will be given with a healthy side dish of life advice.
“We’re going to ask the questions are you working? Are you trying to get work?, said Dexter Burke. He says they will follow up these conversations to see if people need resources to find help.
